“Angus Cloud: Died at the age of 25”

Meet Fezco “Fez” O’Neil also known as Angus Cloud, a local drug dealer in the HBO’s Euphoria, who is known for his role. Sadly, his life was cut short at the young age of 25. In an interview with Variety in August 2022, he revealed that it bothered him when fans compared him to his character, Fezco.

More to know about Angus Cloud

“It’s really bothersome,” he said. “When people say, ‘It should be easy! You just have to go inside and be yourself.’ I tell them, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple. I have brought so much to this character, and you can believe what you want about it. It doesn’t concern me.”

He continued, “I hope I have done a good job. I’m not trying to become a tattooed tough guy. But if I’ve messed up, this is it. I don’t know how to behave. I just gave in. I’m in a room with people who have been acting their whole lives, and I wonder, ‘Why am I here?’ Unfortunately, we won’t get to see their magic on-screen again after Angus Cloud’s untimely demise.”

How did Angus Cloud Died?

TMZ first broke the news of Angus Cloud’s death to his family, who later confirmed it. The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, but TMZ later reported that the Oakland PD responded to a 911 call made by Cloud’s mother around 11:30 a.m. on July 31, 2023, stating a “possible overdose,” and that her son was “unresponsive.” He was declared dead at the scene. According to the site’s report, “A close source to the family told us that Angus was struggling with serious suicidal thoughts after returning from Ireland, where he had buried his father.”

The family statement reveals that he was grappling with the aftermath of his father’s death, which happened a week before. His father was buried in Ireland, and Cloud had reportedly returned to his home in Oakland.

“Today, we bid farewell to an incredible person with heavy hearts. As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus meant something special to all of us,” the statement said.

Lost His Father

“Last week, he buried his father and struggled with this loss. The only solace we have is that Angus has reunited with his father, who was his best friend. Angus spoke openly about his mental health struggles, and we hope his passing can be a reminder to others that they don’t have to fight this battle alone. He concluded, ‘We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy as we continue to navigate through this devastating loss.'” An HBIO spokesperson later said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Angus Cloud’s passing. He was incredibly talented and a beloved part of the HBIO and Euphoria family. Our hearts go out to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

Angus Cloud’s co-star in Euphoria

Maude Apatow, who portrayed Lexi, finally expressed that their on-screen relationship, which ultimately led to Fezco’s lover, Fexi, was a result of their genuine chemistry/friendship. “When Sam and I were talking on the phone for hours about this, it just happened. I can’t remember exactly how it happened. Once we started talking about it, it all felt right,” she told Entertainment Weekly in February 2022. “And Angus and I, in real life, have this weird friendship. It all just clicked. As we kept talking about it, it felt like this very slow thing that felt very natural to me.”

She kept saying she would love to see the relationship develop in season three, which sadly we will never get to witness. “I think it’s so fresh when a relationship feels so innocent and sweet, where they’re not even kissing in the last episode. They just hold hands, and it’s really evolving,” she said. “And I think, opposite to a lot of things on the show that are very extreme, it’s definitely coming to the forefront. But I loved working with Angus. I think he’s an amazing actor, and we had so much fun working together, so I would definitely love to work with him more. He’s just a great partner. He’s very present and talented, and yeah, I loved working with him, so I would love to work with him in full force.

Fans Reaction

Many fans reacted to this news, stating that HBO should cancel Euphoria because without Cloud, there was no point in continuing the show, as his presence had such an impact. Under a post on HBO’s Instagram about Cloud’s passing, one comment reads, “I don’t want Euphoria 3 anymore.” Another said, “Please don’t bring back the enthusiasm, there’s no meaning now.” Yet another commented, “Can’t imagine the show without Fexi.”
